Year 7 Enrolments

Grade 6 to Year 7 Enrolment
Enrolment for Year 7 is completed through the student's state government Primary School when they are in Grade 6. It cannot be completed earlier. For parents/carers/guardians seeking information on how to enrol their Grade 6 child in a secondary school, the Department of Education and Training (DET) provides government schools with a timeline for the Transition to Year 7 enrolment process:

Student that attends Local State Government Primary School:
1. When your child is in Grade 6, their state government Primary School will issue the ‘Transition to Year 7’ application form and information near the start of Term 2 of the Grade 6 year.
2. Parents must complete this form, and return it their local government Primary School, by the due date.
3. Tours of the Highvale Secondary College will be conducted throughout the year. This provides ample time for parents to submit the 'Application for Year 7 Placement' to their primary school.
4. Primary Schools will then forward all applications to the relevant secondary schools in accordance with the Department of Education and Training guidelines.
5. Parents must be patient throughout the Grade 6 to Year 7 transition process. Approximately mid-August families will receive written notification from the Primary School advising the Year 7 secondary school offer your child has a place at, for the coming year.

Student that attends Non-Government, Independent Primary School or Home Schooling:
- If your child attends a non-government, Independent School or is Home Schooled please follow the process as directed from the Department of Education via the following link: non government
- Further information regarding Year 7 enrolment can be found here: moving primary to secondary
